I’m so happy December has arrived! I have been crazy busy getting new items up in my Etsy shop and filling orders. I’ve also been trying to be a substitute teacher as much as I can, so it’s been a whirlwind these last few months. But, the best month of the year has arrived! Christmas is my favorite holiday, and this year, I am thrilled to be a part of others’ Christmases as well! This is my first year doing holidays with my Etsy shop, and I am giddy with excitement knowing I am making a gift for someone else. I love crocheting scarves for my sisters for Christmas, but the sole reason I opened my shop was to share my craft with others. I absolutely love what I do! In this mad rush of the holidays, I did manage to get some cute new items up in my shop. I am loving the holiday set of scarves and boot cuffs!
What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?
My favorite piece of clothing has evolved to scarves. I am obsessed with adding a scarf to my outfit, and I am not a fan of the hot weather in Texas preventing me from wearing my favorite article of clothing until much later in the year. Though I am anticipating that I won’t be able to wear scarves much this fall/winter, I am still obsessed with making them. I love trying out new colors (see previous post :D). Here are some of the autumn scarves I have made that I am in LOVE with (and they are absolutely PERFECT for fall!), and head to my shop to find other awesome colors!
I have added a new item to my Etsy shop! I am absolutely OBSESSED with this yarn! I love Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn! It is the softest acrylic yarn I have ever worked with, and I love using it for infinity scarves. This scarf is also my favorite, but I am also biased that it is all multicolored blue hues (I can’t stop buying blue yarn…). I am ready for fall to begin!
I hope everyone is having a cozy, loving Valentine’s Day! My awesome husband got up early to surprise me with heart shaped donuts from Dunkin Donuts, our new favorite place. He really knows the way to my heart!
Tonight, the snow is falling and it is a great end to a relaxing day. My crochet accomplishment for today is finishing a sunrise colored infinity scarf! I am in love with the colors and I am a huge fan of the multicolored infinity scarves. This one is for sale in my etsy shop for just $20!
I wasn’t sure what to make my cousin for Christmas since we aren’t close, but she lives in the same state and will be celebrating Christmas with us at my grandma’s house, is I felt like I had to make something for her. Luckily we had 2 snow days last week, so I could make this all in one day. I am making an afghan with this blue, so I just used it to make another infinity scarf and hand warmer set. I used Caron simply soft in ocean. If you need a quick last-minute gift, this is perfect and used less than a skein of yarn!
Yesterday was our first snow of the year! It began early in the day, around 9:30 while I was still at work. I had a lot of work to complete this weekend for student teaching, and since I still work on the weekends, I have only a small window of time to get work done. I left all my crocheting projects at my grandma’s house over the weekend so I wouldn’t have any distractions when I stayed with my parents this weekend. Well, school was canceled for today since it’s icy out still, so in my excitement, I borrowed a hook and yarn from my mom and gave in to the temptation. It wasn’t good, I know, but I justified my actions based on the fact I did get a lot done before I found out school was canceled and I gave in! So, I stayed up late like a middle school kid excited by the day off, and I made this scarf. I used yarn from Cranberry Creek Fibers and I used a pattern from ravelry found here. It only took about two and a half hours to crochet and it was a great project to relieve the stress of the end of the semester craziness! It also makes a great last minute quick gift!
I finished two more Christmas presents! Wooo hoo! I bought two skeins of this Loops and Thread yarn because I thought I wanted to make them thicker. I began making the one scarf for my niece and it actually only took one skein. I wanted to make the scarf longer, but since she is only 13, I think it’ll be long enough for her. I was going to use the second scarf for myself later on, but I realized my best friend would love it. These are her favorite colors so I’m adding it to her Christmas presents. It ended up being longer but one row shorter. I’m hoping they’ll love them!
